Some People

My goal with scrapbooking is that my family will use the scrapbooks to remember the past and that the memories will enrich their present.  I hope that they will see the books as treasures to hang on to and pass down to the next generation.

My layout today is documenting an occasion on a family trip this summer to Elk Ridge in the Prince Albert National Park.  It is so beautiful there and we had such a great time!  We had so much fun in the boat on Saturday and part of that was tubing.  These pictures of Jordan and Paule are priceless!

Pink Paislee Love

I admit it…I am crazy about the C’est la Vie collection from Pink Paislee!!  I have had it sitting in my stash for a few months, and with work and other specific projects, I just haven’t gotten to using it.  Today I decided it was happening.  The papers and bits and pieces of the collection are just so gorgeous!  The stencil that I used on the project is also very soft and delicate; a perfect compliment to the collection.  I have included some photos of the layout and the process video.

This Crazy Beautiful Life, August 2016

Life is so amazing!

What a crazy summer it has been! Firstly, it went waaaay too fast; secondly, it was full of some crazy twists and turns.  In the month of July, we celebrated my niece’s wedding, only to be abruptly followed by the flooding of our little town.  I will post a few photos of the flood below.  Only days after the flood, Jordan (my son) and I were to leave for Paris (a trip we had been planning for a very long time).  So we decided to go ahead with our plans, and I left in haste, my house turned upside down and a community on edge.  So many people in town lost so much in the flood.  We were very fortunate and had very little damage.  My daughter and her boyfriend came home while I was away and put the house back together.  We had moved many items to the top floor of the house to ward off as much damage as possible.  I really appreciated coming home to my organized house.  Meanwhile, my husband was in the middle of shingling our house!!  Not a great thing, considering the fact that we had 10+ inches of rain.  While I was away, that also got finished.  Crazy!  The great news is that Jordan and I had an amazing time!!  So, since I have been back I have been busy with a variety of things (garden, back to school work, etc) including crafting; yay!!!

I am going to post some projects and links that I have been working on.  I won’t get everything posted, so check out my YouTube channel for process videos and details of projects completed. Here is a link to my YouTube channel:

Why I Scrapbook

If I made a list of the things I love to do most, the top of my list would be spending time with my family.  The trouble with that is that most of my family is not near by, so the next best thing is to document times spent together.  I love to scrapbook because it gives me this opportunity, but it also allows me to express myself creatively.  It’s a win/win!!

I created this layout a couple of months ago for a YouTube hop I was a part of to celebrate National/International Scrapbooking Day…yes there really is a day dedicated to scrapbooking, and actually it is a whole entire weekend of fun 🙂

The result is this fun layout below.  I used lots of the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection to create this project.  It was perfect timing because I just had a fresh batch of photos sent to me from my daughter who was on vacation in British Columbia!  I wasn’t able to spend time with her, but I sure scrapped those photos 🙂

If you want to see the entire process, I have included a link to my YouTube video down below.

#Bunny

There are definitely some paper collections that inspire me to create a project.  Pink Paislee’s C’est la Vie collection is one of those.  I just love the soft pinks and pretty florals in this collection and it was the inspiration for this layout:

Bunn4

I fussy cut the flowers from the 08 paper from the collection that were around the edges of the paper, planning to use them as the border on this layout.  The flowers work perfectly at the bottom of the design.  Then I used the 04 paper as a background; I love how the pink pops with the black.  I used a variety of other embellishments from the collection, including die cuts, puffy stickers, cork hearts, and chipboard alphas. The 6×6 paper behind the photo is meant to resemble a fence.

I like how this turned out!  I am excited to say that I still have plenty from this collection to do some more layouts 🙂

“Usie”

usie1

I don’t take too many selfies, but I do take quite a few usies 🙂  I love this photo that I used for this layout.  It makes me smile!  When I look at how photographs have changed over time with the changes in technology, I often think about how our personalities and natural inclinations tend to come out and be more clear in the shots we are taking with these new devices.  I think it’s cool how our scrapbooks don’t just document the obvious, but they also document subtle changes that are happening around us that we don’t even think about.

The collection that I have used on this layout is called On Trend 2 from My Mind’s Eye.  What a beautiful collection full of gorgeous color and gold foil accents.  I love it!  This layout is very simple.  Nothing fancy, just a basic design.  What I love about it is that it captures this moment and this time…the magic of the usie 🙂

Mahalo for the Aloha State

Listen. Can you hear it?  The sounds of the island birds, the distant sounds of the ocean water breaking on the sand, the Polynesian music…it’s paradise! Hawaii is my favorite place on Earth.  Some day I hope that I can visit this beautiful place for a big chunk of our Canadian winter.  I started a project today to document our recent vacation on Maui; I think the album will be a treasure and a reminder to us that we must return 🙂

I have included a few photos from our vacation and I have left a link to my first process video for the album.  Stay tuned for more mini album Hawaii fun!
