Special Moments

I asked Bailey if she would mind if I scrapped the photo of Brady proposing.  She said that I could; the result is my layout on my post today.  The Chasing Dreams collection from Maggie Holmes is perfect for this photo and what I had in mind.  I wanted to use soft, pastel colors to match the softness of the colors in the photo.  I think I was able to achieve what I wanted with the color palette.

I printed the photo in 5×7.  I wanted a larger photo to really capture this moment.  I added some pops of black with the pastel colors, including the frame, title and photo mat.  This really draws the eye to key points on the layout.

The Silhouette cut file is the basis of the design and really does the work of the background.  Backing areas with patterned paper takes the colors across the layout.  The sewing just adds a little extra texture.

The Maggie Holmes ephemera is always my favorite…so pretty and just completes the look you are going for in your design.

Bitmoji Love

Do you have an Avatar?  I got the Bitmoji App a while back and created my little person.  It’s fun!  I use it lots with my family back and forth.  I thought it would be fun to create a scrapbooking layout with some images of my Bitmoji, expressing my love for coffee and my frustrations with not being able to drink it.

I used lots of product from Lovely Day and Oh My Heart.  I really love these two collections; so much fun to work with and I love how they go together.  I sometimes get the pieces mixed up, so I wanted to include the links to both collections in case you want to check them out a bit more.

Celebrating Two Years

I can’t believe it was two years ago already that I started my YouTube channel and began the journey of sharing my love of creating!  I recently read Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert and I have to say everything she talks about in that book just completely resonates with me.  Helping others, even if it’s just a little bit, to discover what can make their lives more full, by sharing my own love of creating, is so much fun!!

I will be having a giveaway later this month to celebrate with all of my subbies!  Thanks so much for all of your encouragement over on YouTube and here on my blog.  I am going to try to make an effort to be more consistent with my blog posts in 2017.

I created this layout today with the gorgeous Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection.  I am in love with these products!

I used a Page Maps sketch that I pinned on Pinterest to create this layout.  I love creating from a sketch.

Books & Joe

Scrap the Challenge #28

This week Kelly and I decided to use a beautiful mood board from Pinterest for our challenge inspiration.

I decided to focus on the color scheme and the “Books and Coffee” for my layout.I was also wanting to use some of my new products from the recent CHA releases. The newOh My Heart collection from Pink Paislee fit the theme perfectly.  I love the colors and icons in this collection!!  Here are some photos and the video for the layout.

Marry Me

Last week was pretty exciting for our family!  Brady proposed to Bailey!!  So exciting for them!  We could not be happier for them.  Now the fun of wedding planning begins and all that goes along with making their big day super special.  I had fun creating this layout with this lovely photo of the two of them on the beach in Cuba just shortly after the big moment!  Brady hired a photographer, so I have some really great photos to work with in my studio over the next few weeks.

I have used papers and ephemera from Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams and Gather; the colors are perfect for this layout.  I also used two cut files from the Silhouette Design Store using some pink glitter paper.  I have included some photos and the process video for the layout!

My Favorite Nut

The Neat and Tangled “My Favorite Nut” stamp and die set is so adorable! There are so many sweet images in this set and so many fun ways to use them!  There is a matching die set as well that can be purchased separately.  nut2

This is the fun valentine card that I created with the set.  I applied some distress inks for a simple background and water colored the image.  Watch the process video below to check out the details.

Scrapbooking a Large Photo

Sometimes there are photos that just need to be scrapped in a larger format; the photo in this layout is a good example.  The layout exemplifies how a beautiful photo can do most of the work for the layout…not much else is needed…except for Maggie Holmes, of course!  I love everything Maggie Holmes designs and I think I have all of the last couple of collections she has created.  The feminine nature of the Gather collection is perfect for this photo and layout.  The phrases in the text paper are perfect…”dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself”; “take a moment to think about how blessed you are”; “do what makes your soul shine”; “cherish time”…perfect sentiments to express what this photo represents.

Creating Cards

One of my favorite things to do in my studio is to create cards.  The My Favorite Things set “I’m Owl Yours” is completely adorable!!  I am a huge fan of all of the MFT products.  I have also used the Stitched Sentiment Strips die, the Star Grid Cover-Up die,and the Stitched Basic Edges dies.

Thanksgiving Gratitude

I have to say, I am one very grateful Mom!  We have so much to be thankful for, and no better time to remember that than at Thanksgiving.  We didn’t have our family home on the actual Thanksgiving weekend, but when they did come home, we had such fun!  The photos are memories of our dinner together, including the delicious cheese cake carrot cake layer cake I made.

I created this layout using some of my newest Shimmerz products.  I used the packaging technique with Vibez Sunset Strip and Snow Way Man as well as Shimmerz Winter’s Mist paint.  I can’t even express how in love with these products I am!  So sparkly and pretty!  They really do make a layout look amazing 🙂

Here are some photos of my project and a link to the video.

Scrap the Challenge #17

Kelly Barron and I have worked our way up to 17 challenges this year on our YouTube channels, attempting to challenge each other and our viewers to try some different things that will prompt more memory keeping.  This week our challenge was to use multiple stencils on a layout to create an original design.  This was great fun; I love working with mixed media, and I have lots of stencils!  The layout I came up with  has lots of color and detail from the three stencils I used.  I have some photos here for you and a link to the process video so you can see the products and process I used to create my project.
